RATTLES?
The "Rattles" movement began in 2020 as a spinoff of AverageGTI, my car photography account. The idea was to make high-quality content with low-quality cars, the first of which was a green 1996 Ford Escort, named 'Rattles' for the noises it made. While Rattles is no longer with us, its spirit lives on through the green fender, which is now an "accent panel" on my beloved purple 1995 Escort GT.
Through this whimsical approach to cars, I have grown to love unconventional, quirky cars. I spent time working at Specter Design, building vintage sports cars, trucks, tractors, and just about anything in between. It was there that I built the Moon Buggy, a lunar rover-inspired buggy built in the spirit of the 1950s-era dune buggies. The recipe is simple: take an old Volkswagen, throw the body away, mount the steering wheel, and make a rocket ship gas tank out of an old air compressor. Just don't expect it to get you to the moon.
